Edgar Davids admitted he didn’t “expect” Barnet’s 2-0 win away at Rotherham United but was delighted with his side’s performance.

The Bees first visit to the New York Stadium was a happy one as goals from Jake Hyde and Andy Yiadom secured the three points.

It was a deserved victory for the Bees whose work-rate and movement on and off the ball helped them create numerous chances while the defence restricted the Millers to shots from distance.

"I didn't expect it (the win),” said Davids. “But it went our way.

"I’m very happy, we trained on those aspects (for the goals) and they came out.

He added: “I think we have played some games even better overall, but we didn’t get the points in. But now we are getting the points so that amplifies everything.

“We had some good spells and as a team we played well. But we have played better. However, if you play well against a side as strong as Rotherham United you have to be delighted.”

Despite the win, Barnet remain 20th in League Two and just three points above the drop zone as three of the four teams below the Bees in the table also claimed victory yesterday.

Davids remains solely focused on the Bees though.

He said: "That's three wins in five but we still have to stay focused because every game for us is a final no matter who we play against because, at the end of the day, we are still close to the bottom of the league.

“Four of the bottom five have won, so if they keep on winning we have to keep on winning.”
