Adam Thompson has returned to Watford after his one-month loan at Barnet was cut short due to a shoulder injury.

The Northern Ireland international signed for the Bees on January 4 and made his debut the following day as a second half substitute in the 2-0 win over Bradford City.

However, the 20-year-old suffered a dislocated and fractured shoulder in training and is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Bees boss Edgar Davids admitted he was disappointed to lose Thompson to injury so early into his loan spell.

He said: “If you get a player in and after less than one game, and not even a week training, they get injured then that is a major blow. So it is a shame for Adam and for us.”
