Wingate & Finchley's four-match unbeaten run came to an end as they suffered a 3-2 home defeat against Ryman Premier Division leaders Whitehawk.
The visitor’s went ahead through Michael Malcolm and the lead was doubled soon after as Malcolm fired home from 20-yards.
Wingate pulled a goal back before the interval as Anthony Thomas pounced on a defensive mistake to curl the ball into the corner.
Whitehawk re-established their two goal advantage two minutes after the break as a James Fraser free-kick was deflected past the helpless Bobby Smith.
Wingate then took control of possession and reduced the deficit for a second time as Daniel Brown got behind the defence before coolly finishing.
The Blues had Whitehawk worried for the final 15 minutes of the game. Full-back Ronayne Marsh-Brown had a low show saved before he was sent off shortly before full time after receiving a second yellow card.
Wingate couldn’t find the equalising goal and their unbeaten run was ended.
