Double European victory for Barnet Harriers athletes Seb Roger and Allan Scott

Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers athletes Seb Roger and Allan Scott both celebrated victory at the first of three indoor European competitions in Bratislava.

Under-23 competitor Rodger took on 30 other runners in the 400m.

The Shaftesbury competitor produced a strong performance to comfortably cross the line in first place in his race.

His time of 47.79 was the second fastest time of the meet, with only Ruzic Mateo of Croatia ahead of him.

Rodger’s time ranks him second in the UK in 2013.

Scott ran in the 60m hurdles and stopped the clock in 7.86. His time was the quickest of the meeting and means he is ranked fourth in the UK this year.

At the British Athletics International Match in Glasgow on Saturday, Under-23 athlete Allan Smith set his second Scottish high jump record in two weeks after clearing 2.23m.

Smith, representing the Commonwealth team, was up against Olympic bronze medallist Robbie Grabarz and finished fourth on count back.

His performances mean he is ranked first in the UK Under-23 high jump in 2013.

Lee McConnell ran her first 200m since 2011 and finished fifth in a time of 24.18, while Zoe Brown equalled her pole vault indoor personal best of 4.20m for fifth place.

Trecia Smith took third in the triple jump with a season’s best 13.85m but Yamile Aldama couldn’t get her timing right and ended in fifth.
