Pupils from Edgware’s London Academy Under-16 boys’ table tennis team take victory at the finals of the Jack Petchey London Schools’ Table Tennis Championship.
The side of Gabriel Achampong, Karim Khassal, Omar Khassal and Charlie Austen were victorious in several rounds against competition from schools across London to win.
The event, hosted by the English Table Tennis Association, saw 29 teams from 21 schools from across the capital compete in the all-day event which was the climax of the London Schools competition.
All schools had battled through regional competitions held late last year to compete in the prestigious final.
Bhavin Savjanai, full-time table tennis coach at the school, said “I am delighted with my players and they have certainly done the school proud.
“The sport is popular and the teachers are very supportive. It gets the students off the streets and we find behaviour and discipline improves which we monitor.”
