Finchley ABC boxer Omar Chaima eases into last four of the BA Schoolboys Championships class 2 Under-46kg

Omar Chaima effortlessly moved into the semi-final of the ABA Schoolboys Championships class 2 Under-46kg after defeating Jake Fenton at the weekend.

The Finchley ABC fighter coasted through the first round but after taking instructions from Sean Murphy, Chaima stiffened up his jab and used straight punches to slow his Portsmouth ABC opponent down.

Chaima bossed the second and third rounds comfortably, gaining a unanimous decision which now takes him into the last four.

Finchley’s Patrick Doherty produced an all-action display against Tom Legg at the Romford show last Friday.

Doherty never looked in danger of losing the contest and deservedly won the unanimous decision.

Finchley ABC senior Alex Zendra suffered a defeat against Connor Atkins at the Romford show.

The first two rounds were scrappy with the few clean punches thrown by Zendra but he allowed Atkins to hold and bully him at close quarters.

Coach Gary Foley sent Zendra out for the third round with orders to box long and not get drawn into the clinches, which he did with some success.

Although an untidy bout, it was felt that Zendra had boxed the better of the two boys but the majority decision went in Atkins’ favour.

At the New Addington Show in Croydon on Saturday, Finchley fighter Ollie Duffy boxed a return with Michael Mcdonnagh of Islington ABC.

Duffy had beaten Mcdonnagh in the Schoolboy Championships two weeks previously and this bout went the same way.

The Finchley boxer started strongly and gained in confidence as the rounds developed. Duffy eased off in the last round but came away with the unanimous decision.

In his second bout for Finchley, Mcdonnagh claimed victory over Kevin Poporousky by a unanimous decision.
