Edgar Davids believes that Barnet must continue to approach every game like a final as the Bees travel to York City tomorrow.

Barnet were held to a goalless draw against Port Vale last weekend but the Bees performance received much praise from Davids who felt the display proved the “big steps” made by the players.

The Bees have claimed just one point from their last three matches despite producing impressive performances and Davids insists that confidence remains high in the team.

He said: “If you see how we have played, how many chances we have created and how much more of the ball we have had then it is definitely a big blow if you only have one point out of a possible nine.

“We have been playing well though so the confidence in the team is there. Of course it is disappointing that we haven’t got the wins but we know what we are lacking.

“But we are very positive after the display against Port Vale. We outplayed them and I think that was a big signal that we have made big steps.”

York have not won in their last seven League Two matches and have claimed just one victory in just one of their last ten games.

Despite their poor run of form Davids says it will be a “tough match” for the Bees.

“York are a tough team and you know they are going to dig in and try and get a positive result. So it is going to be a tough match and I’ve said before, every game is a final for us.

“With Barnet you never know what to expect but we will do our best and hopefully we can continue to play our football.”

Craig Beattie could make his Barnet debut after his move was granted international clearance on Thursday but the Bees have lost Andy Iro and Ibra Sekajja after their loan deals expired.

Steve Kabba remains a long term absentee and Barnet will be without the influential Ricky Holmes who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a foot injury.
