Edgar Davids praised Jake Hyde’s performance in the 2-1 victory at York City and stated the striker’s introduction from the bench lifted the Barnet side.
An own goal from David Stephens had put York ahead but Barnet hit back through Andy Yiadom.
Hyde replaced James Beattie on 66 minutes and seven minutes later scored what proved to be the Bees winning goal.
Davids said: “I’m happy that Jake got the goal and people that come off the bench need that character. You need to show the coach that you shouldn’t be on the bench.
“He came in and lifted the team, as did Elliot (Johnson) who came on at half time. So I am happy that the spirit in the side is like this now.”
