Davids unsure why Bees struggle against relegation rivals (From Times Series)

Edgar Davids admits Barnet's form against the sides in the bottom half of League Two is 'definitely a problem'

Barnet have taken just 13 points from their 16 matches against sides in the bottom half of League Two this season. Bees head coach Edgar Davids admits that is "definitely a problem."

It is partly why Barnet can’t escape the threat of relegation. The Bees are just one point above the drop zone. A defeat against fellow strugglers Plymouth Argyle did little to ease the pressure in the relegation battle.

Davids’ side were beaten 2-1 at Home Park. Barnet were poor throughout despite taking the lead through Jake Hyde. Goals Conor Hourihane and Ronan Murray sealed the Bees fate.

Davids said after the game he was disappointed with the team and when asked if Barnet’s lacklustre performances against the sides around them in the table was a psychological issue, he answered: "Maybe it is. I don’t know. It is definitely a problem.

"I have always said you can become champions by winning against the teams that are below you and the teams that are above you."

Barnet midfielder Mark Byrne added: "I'm not sure what the problem is. But if we want to stay in this league we are going to have to get results against those at the bottom.

"We need to really roll up our sleeves now and dig deep. It is so tight at the bottom now.

"It is going to be a final push from now until the end of the season. We have a couple of hard games coming up but we need to pick up the points, especially aginst those sides around us."
