Oxford United v Barnet - Preview
Edgar Davids believes Barnet will face take on “excellent players” at Oxford United this evening and thinks that the U’s position in the League Two table is “far below their potential.”
Chris Wilder’s side are currently tenth in the table and have won three of their last four matches. They are currently seven points off the play-off positions.
Barnet have been beaten just once in their last six league matches though and recorded a 4-1 victory over Morecambe on Saturday.
However, Davids says his team will “have to be careful” at the Kassam Stadium.
He explained: “In the FA Cup game (at Underhill) they really outplayed us and I was really impressed with how they played. We lost and I thought they were at a higher level.
“We played them again (in the league) and we outplayed them that time. But we play away and it is going to be hard.
“They have excellent players and I think that they can play at a higher level if they want to.
“I think that is the problem with Oxford. If they want to they can play you off the park, so you have to be careful.
“I think where they stand now in the league is far below their potential.”
The Bees head coach added: “Their players make the right decisions all the time. I was very impressed when we played against them. They are a tough side but we will go there and hope to make the best of it.”
Barnet will be without John Oster due to a hamstring injury and Craig Beattie is also unlikely to feature.
Bees top scorer Jake Hyde faces a late fitness test ahead of the contest.
Oxford have several injury problems with Ryan Clarke (shoulder), Jon-Paul Pittman (shoulder), Justin Richards (knee) and Peter Leven (knee) all unavailable. Tony Capaldi (back) and Lewis Montrose are also doubts.
