Edgar Davids wants Barnet to have a "great future" but doesn't know whether he will remain at Barnet next season
Edgar Davids admits he does not know whether he will remain at Barnet next season but wants to ensure the Bees have “a great future ahead."
The Dutchman agreed a deal until the end of the current campaign when he surprisingly joined the club last October.
His impact on and off the pitch has been crucial in the Bees’ latest relegation battle and when asked if he would like to stay at the club beyond the summer, Davids said: “You never know what can happen because this is football. But I want to make sure that Barnet are developing themselves in the future.
“We have to develop and I think that is owed to the club, the fans and everyone who supports Barnet.”
He continued: “We are already building for next season, you have to do that. We have started to construct a couple of things. They are in the pipeline and they are going well.
“But whatever happens, happens. I just want to make sure Barnet has a great future ahead.”
Barnet’s form in League Two has dramatically improved since Davids’ arrival and several youngsters from the club’s academy have been integrated into the Bees’ first team.
Davids, who turned 40 on Wednesday, has stressed the importance of the club’s academy but believes there are still small improvements to be made.
He explained: “A couple of things still need fine tuning to make sure that the club has good results in the future. Those things are important to instill now rather than waiting until the end of the season.”
