Barnet Elizabethans’ relegation fate is out of their control after they suffered a 35-0 defeat at Twickenham in London Three North West League.

The home side started the contest strongly and they opened the scoring after two penalties were successfully converted.

Elizabethans fought hard with strong performances from Jim Mansfield, Matt Greenwood and Ricky Stevens but a swift counter from Twickenham saw them cross the line to establish an 11-0 lead at the interval.

In the second half, David Leadbitter and Adrian Todd had strong runs stopped short of the line and the hosts kept up the pressure on Barnet.

They scored four tries, two of which were converted, in the final quarter to complete victory.

Elizabethans will have to await the outcome of the RFU ruling against Imperial Medicals for failing to play a number of fixtures this season.

The rules state that the Imps should be bottom of the table and all their results expunged. It leaves Elizabethans with slight hope of avoiding the drop.
