Darren Barker to parade his world title at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea face Aston Villa
Newly-crowned IBF World middleweight champion Darren Barker will parade his title at Stamford Bridge tonight as his beloved Chelsea take on Aston Villa.
The Londoner beat Australian fighter Daniel Geale in Atlantic City on Saturday night to take home a world title at the second attempt - Barker had previously lost to Sergio Martinez back in 2011.
Barker used the facilities at Chelsea in the build-up to the fight before flying out to the States and on his return, the 31-year-old season ticket holder is looking forward to his first Blues’ game as a World Champion.
"It’s great to be back with the title and I can’t wait to show it off at the Bridge," said Barker.
"The club has been fantastic to me and I was told I got a great reception when they put a picture up and announced it to the crowd on Sunday against Hull, so hopefully it’ll be even bigger tomorrow night when I’m there."
Felix Sturm is likely to be Barker’s first opponent for his defence in London in December.
