Welling United v Barnet - Preview
7:00am Saturday 5th October 2013 in Sport
Barnet travel to Welling United this afternoon looking to build on their victory against Salisbury City last week.
Top scorer Jake Hyde is likely to be included in the squad after he returned to training this week and Curtis Weston missed the victory against Salisbury due to suspension and is also available for selection.
Barnet sit 10th in the Skrill Premier after 12 matches and the Bees have been inconsistent in the opening two months of the season.
Player/head coach Edgar Davids said: “I am not that satisfied with our performances. We have played some great football but haven’t been clinical. So there are some things that we can and have to improve.”
Davids started his second game in succession and played 90 minutes as a centre-back alongside David Stephens against Salisbury.
The Dutch international, who wears the number one shirt, said he is comfortable in the role and explained you “have to forget about egos” when you are in the side.
He added: “Everyone has to put their effort in and who scores and who assists is not relevant.
“What is relevant is that you put in your best effort and maximise your potential to get the best results.”
Davids said it is important his side now go on a run of victories but added: “It is important to look at how the team is evolving and progressing.
“That for me is more important. But every team wants to have a good run before the winter.”
