New Barnet signing Kieron Cadogan believes he has joined the “perfect club” and is looking forward to working with Bees head coach Edgar Davids for a second time.

The winger was training at The Hive for several weeks but signed for Barnet on Friday and played 90 minutes against Welling United 24 hours later.

It wasn’t a winning start to life with the Bees for the 23-year-old as the game ended 1-1 but he has been impressed with his new team-mates.

He said: “From what I have seen in training and on the pitch, I think we can be up near the top of the table. We have both sides of the game. We are not just a footballing side; we can fight when we have to fight. So I think we have got what it takes.

“Being around good players will bring the best out of me and vice versa. It is not easy to find a footballing side in the Conference but I think this is the perfect club for me to progress.”

Cadogan began his career at Championship side Crystal Palace and worked with Davids during the Dutchman’s brief spell at Selhurst Park in 2010.

The Barnet head coach says Cadogan “is open to progress and has the desire to improve” and the winger feels he can learn a lot from Davids.

He said: “Training is the same standard as to what it was at Crystal Palace. The tempo is high and Mr Davids demands a lot from us, I like to be in that environment.

“I know his mindset and what he wants to get from a player. He is Edgar Davids and I personally want to milk as much as I can off him and get as much info as I can. It is a learning curve.”
