Joel Tomkins relishes the pressure of performing on the big stage and is ready to make the step up to international level, says Saracens boss Mark McCall.
Tomkins has been called up to the England squad ahead of the autumn internationals, less than two years after switching from rugby league to union.
"I'm really pleased for Joel, it’s fully deserved," McCall said.
"Given the couple of injuries he’s had he’s playing as well as anybody.
"He’s learned unbelievably quickly over the past 20 months or so and he's got better and better.
"He's ready for it now. For me he’s got presence, a personality, experience in the big games. All these things stand him in good stead.
"He’s played on the big stage before, he’s played international rugby for England in rugby league he's played in the Challenge Cup final he's played in big games for us – quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Heineken Cup and every step up he relishes.
"He likes the big stage so I think he’s ready for it."
