Two second-half own goals helped Wingate & Finchley record a 3-0 win against Bognor Regis Town in the Ryman Premier Division.
Wingate went ahead on the half-hour mark. A corner from Spencer McCall was cleared to the edge of the area and Dean Mason smashed the ball in off the left post.
Bognor were one of the league’s form sides ahead of the game but they failed to create clear chances and Terry Dodd dragged a volley wide from 18 yards.
In the second period the visitors came close as Ben Godfrey’s shot took a small deflection and narrowly missed the post.
The match was settled with two own goals in the space of a minute.
The first came after Mark Zawadski tried to open his body and pass the ball to his right back, but under pressure from Leon Smith, he only found his own net.
Wingate’s third came from Bobby Smith’s clearance. The ball was flicked backwards by defender Stuart Axten but the ball drifted over Zawadski and into the net.
