Barnet assistant coach Ulrich Landvreugd believes referees are “looking” for Edgar Davids after the Dutch midfielder was given his second red card of the season during the Bees' 1-0 win against Dartford.
Since Davids joined Barnet last October he has been booked 13 times and has been sent off on four occasions.
The Dutchman received his first yellow card against the Darts for dissent and was given a second for a foul on Lee Noble in the 81st minute.
When asked after the game if referees are targeting Davids, Landvreugd replied: “I can’t speak for the referees. I don’t think it was hard on him today but you can see some referees are looking for him. Today that wasn’t the case but I can’t really judge the thoughts of the referees.”
On Davids dismissal against Dartford, he added: “To be fair, I didn’t see the first yellow but the second yellow is a little bit hard and there are accidents like that in the game.
“So I think it was a little bit harsh for him. And the first yellow I didn’t see what happened."
