Barnet director of football Paul Fairclough says the Bees are doing everything they can to keep Dani Lopez at the club.

The striker’s three-month loan from Stevenage comes to an end this week and he signed off with the winning goal against Alfreton Town on Saturday.

Lopez has been told he can leave Stevenage if a deal can be agreed and Fairclough admits Barnet are looking to keep the Spaniard at The Hive.

He told the club’s website: “It is not a secret that we would all love Dani to stay here and we are doing everything we can to make that happen.

“Obviously scoring the goal he scored today isn’t going to help because other teams will look at that and think do we try and take him.”

Fairclough added: “Another thing worth mentioning is that when he came to us and due to his injury Dani hasn’t been fully fit but he has still had an impact.

“I’m sure if we can keep him we will but it isn’t always as straight forward as that. There has been talks and we’re interested like everybody else.”
