Edgar Davids says he is thankful for his time at Barnet but believes it is time for him to leave the club.

It was announced the Dutchman had resigned by mutual agreement following the Bees’ 2-1 defeat at Chester – a game Davids did not attend.

The former Juventus and Barcelona star spent 15 months in charge of the north London club but says it is time to depart.

Davids posted on social networking site Twitter: “I have decided that it’s time for me to move on and I am thankful for the time I have had.”

He added: "Wishing our team the best #coyb"
