Hendon’s match against Lowestoft Town, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

It was frustrating for the Greens, looking to build on the excellent away wins at Margate and Billericay, especially as the pitch was playable on Friday.

However, the forecast bad weather arrived on Friday evening and continued well into Saturday morning.

What had been a precautionary inspection, set for early on Saturday, based on the predicted rain and to stop the Trawlerboys making the long trip from Suffolk, proved to be a necessity after the deluge.

Unfortunately when the referee looked at the rain-soaked pitch, he had no alternative but to call off the game.
