Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers’ Zoe Brown and Gregor MacLean claimed gold medals at the Scottish National Senior Championships

Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers’ Zoe Brown and Gregor MacLean both claimed gold medals in the pole vault at the Scottish National Senior Championships.
Maclean sealed top spot in the men’s competition after clearing 5.30m while Brown claimed first place after vaulting 4.05m.
Jessie Concannon (under-20) was third in the 200m heats with a time of 26.30 while Neil Burnside took fifth in the 800m final after clocking 1.58.24.
Elsewhere, Harriers’ Richard Goodman collected his second individual major championship by clinching first place at the British University and Colleges Cross Country Championships.
Under-23 athlete Goodman, who was competing for St Mary’s University, proved too strong for the rest of the field as he completed the course in 33.51.
The other Shaftesbury athletes in action over the full distance were Niall Fleming (under-23) who took 37th for Birmingham University in 36.27 and Will Ryle-Hodges (under-23) who took 43rd after clocking 36.44 for Cambridge. I
n the short race, Michael Callegari (under-20), who represented St Mary’s was second in 25.43 and Phillip Crout (under-20) was 21st.
St Mary’s University also won the team race which saw Callegari collect a gold medal to add to his individual silver.
In the women’s race, Beth Potter (under-23) finished seventh in 22.44 for St Mary’s while Melissa Courtney (under-23) was ninth for Brunel University in 22.47.
Amy Campbell (23.44.), Victoria Walker (25.44) and Zoe Levin (28.31) also completed the distance.
