Dereck Chisora is targeting a summer fight with Tyson Fury after the Finchley boxer comfortably overcame Kevin Johnson on points at the Copper Box Arena yesterday.
Johnson, who hasn’t been stopped in his professional career, has a reputation as being a stubborn opponent but WBO and WBA international heavyweight champion Chisora floored him in the fifth round.
However, the American survived and forced the Londoner to go the full 12 rounds. Chisora's strong display was acknowledged by the judges and their scores of 118-109, 118-110 and 118-109 gave him victory.
After the bout, ‘Del boy’ said he wants to face Russian fighter Alexander Povetkin in Moscow before taking on Fury.
"I give credit to Johnson he came to survive," Chisora told Sky Sports. "I said this was going to be long night, it was going to be 12 rounds.
"In the summer me and Tyson will get it on."
