Barnet joint head coach Ulrich Landvreugd says the Bees' team spirit is 'massive' as they move into the Skrill Premier play-off positions
“The train is moving” is how Ulrich Landvreugd described Barnet’s bid for the play-offs after the Bees claimed a 1-0 win at Wrexham to move fourth in the Skrill Premier table.
In a tight game in north Wales a goal from Jake Hyde with 12 minutes remaining was enough to secure the three points.
Barnet have won all four of their matches since Landvreugd and joint head coach Dick Schreuder were placed in charge of the first-team following Edgar Davids’ departure.
The duo appear to have breathed confidence and belief back into the squad and Landvreugd is delighted with the players.
“We have one goal and that is the play-offs, but we are not there yet,” he said. “We have a lot of games coming up and we know if you win four then you can quickly rise.
“But if you lose four then it takes you out of it. We are only focused now on winning until the end. We will keep on going and the train is moving.”
He continued: “We are really pleased with the squad and everyone is really hungry and positive. I can understand people are disappointed that they are not playing but on the bench everyone is supporting each other and we are all together. That is good to see and the team spirit is massive.”
Wrexham were arguably the better side in the first half of the match at the Racecourse Ground but the Bees improved dramatically after the interval and dominated the contest.
Hyde’s goal, his 11th in 20 games this season, was a deserved winner according to Landvreugd.
He said: "The first half was hard and they probably shaded it. They had the wind in their back and had the advantage.
“They didn’t try to play in the first half, just long balls and then they tried to win the second balls around our 18 yard box.
“So it was sometimes difficult, the main thing was their set pieces were dangerous.
“I think the first 15 minutes of the second half were equal but after that we were much fitter. That’s why in that period was created the most chances and one of them went in.”
