Wingate & Finchley secured a much needed win in the Ryman Premier as the ten-man Blues claimed a 3-1 victory against Harrow Borough.

Wingate went into the game following three successive defeats but they started brightly and went ahead in the ninth minute of the contest.

Lewis Jones found Ahmet Rifat in space, he fed the ball to Tommy Tejan-Sie and the striker bore down on goal and slotted past Borough keeper James Shea.

Marc Weatherstone went close with a free header and Tejan-Sie volleyed narrowly wide as Wingate began to dominate.

However, the Blues were then reduced to ten men. Bobby Aisien was sent off for a professional foul in the penalty area and Victor Osobu converted the spot kick.

The game was level at the interval but seven minutes after the restart, Wingate grabbed a second goal.

Jemal Fredericks replaced Jones and scored with his first touch as he headed home a cross from Tejan-Sie.

Harrow dominated possession throughout the second period but were unable to break through a stubborn Wingate backline.

The win was secured in stoppage time. Ola Sogbanmu played a low through-ball to Jack Read who lobbed the stranded keeper with a confident flick.
