London Disability Swimming Club duo Rio Harwood and Angharad Wightwick claimed a handful of medals at the National Junior and Youth Disability Swimming Championships.

The pair, who also swim for Barnet Copthall Swimming Club, were part of a 15-strong team from the capital who were taking on an elite field of swimmers.

Harwood, who lives in Mill Hill and attends Mill Hill County High School, was competing in the S9 classification. He won individual gold in the 50m backstroke and bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Wren Academy pupil Wightwick, from Finchley, was in action in the S8 classification and collected individual gold, silver and bronze medals.

The London team, one of the smallest entered, amassed a huge points total, received 59 medals and were responsible for breaking several records.

In total, 18 British, 11 European and eight World records tumbled at the event.
