Middlesex County Cricket Club have announced former England women’s cricket head coach Mark Lane will become director of the Middlesex CCC Central Academy.

The appointment comes as a result of a partnership established between Middlesex and both Brondesbury and Primrose Hill cricket clubs.

The partnership sees the creation of a new regional cricket academy which will be based in central London.

Middlesex hope to deliver top-quality coaching programmes for young players of the northern and inner London boroughs.

John Fosbraey, Brondesbury captain, said: “Brondesbury is delighted to welcome Mark to the club to run the academy and strengthen links between youth development and adult cricket.

“He has a terrific track record of organisation and technical excellence and we’re excited that he will forge strong links with local schools and families to develop young players for Brondesbury, Middlesex and beyond.”
