Barnet head coach Martin Allen says it is “touch and go” as to whether Dani Lopez will return from injury before the end of the season.

The Spanish striker, who is on loan from Stevenage, has not featured for the Bees since March 15, when he was brought off at half-time of the 1-0 defeat to Gateshead with a knee problem.

“I am well aware he is a good goal scorer but he’s touch and go as to whether we will have him back before the end of the season, however long it may be,” Allen told the club website.

“He has been for a scan and we are now waiting for a consultant’s view on how his injury needs to be treated. It is a very frustrating time for him and of course for us.”

Fellow Spaniards Roberto Casabella and Luisma Villa are also long-term absentees but Allen is hopeful the duo will be in contention in the next fortnight. He said: “Luisma Villa is looking good. We’re hoping his right calf eases over the next week which means he could be in contention for the following week.

“Due to the time he had been out he needs a week of training. I know he’s a good player and I want him back as soon as possible.

“Casabella twisted his ankle and I’m hoping he will be joining in training with us on Monday. However, I am aware he has been out for a long time and we need to carefully monitor his return to the first team.”
