Hendon brought the curtain down on their Herts/Middlesex League Two league campaign with a 52-29 loss against London Welsh at the weekend.

Hendon did manage to secure a fourth try bonus point and secured a final position of sixth place.

Welsh took the lead with a converted try after only three minutes,

Lighting struck twice as Welsh repeated the move to go 14-0 ahead after ten minutes.

From the restart Hendon winger Judah Simpson collected the ball to run around the stunned Welsh defence and pass inside for Harry Charles to score and immediately reduce the Welsh lead to 14-5.

After Hendon lost midfield player Adam Johnson through injury, the next Welsh attack made full use of the wings, extending the lead to 21-5.

Before the half-time whistle Welsh added a further two tries to push the score to 33-5.

On the last play, Simpson did manage an impressive solo effort, picking up the loose ball and kicking over the defence to collect and score.

Welsh took full advantage of the depleted wings to stretch their lead to 38-10 with another try.

Hendon rallied and scrum half John McCarthy crashed over from five metres to make it 38-15.

Paul Geraughty was forced to retire with concussion, leaving Hendon to battle on with 14 men - two of whom were carrying injuries.

In the final 15 minutes JP Cremin crossed the line and was followed by McCarthy slotting over to make it 38-22.

Welsh immediately responded with a pushover try to lead 45-22.

Hendon man-of-the-match Simpson scored next when McCarthy pushed to him out wide to cross the line, before the provider added the conversion to reach 45-29.

There was controversy at the death when Welsh were awarded a try after the referee overruled the flag raised by the touch judge to finish off the scoring.
