Martin Allen hoped the Barnet supporters left The Hive happy this evening after the Bees’ final home match of the season ended in a 1-1 draw against Braintree Town.

Keanu Marsh-Brown put Barnet in front in the 40th minute. The winger fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards.

Kenny Davis levelled the game in the second period. The midfielder won a penalty and converted from 12 yards.

Neither side were able to find a winner and the result leaves Barnet eighth in the Skrill Premier table with one game remaining.

Bees head coach Allen said: “I thought we played some good football and were competitive. We wanted all our players to put on a performance for the home supporters after the Halifax defeat.

“I hope our supporters went home happy today after seeing a good Barnet display.”

He continued: “It was a fantastic goal. Keanu's been struggling with a knee injury recently but has bravely soldiered on.

“He hasn’t trained all the time and I saved him for this game, hoping he would put on a good performance and that's what he did. I thought he did very well.”

The Bees’ extremely slim play-off hopes were ended before kick-off and Allen admitted that made it difficult for the players.

He said: “We heard about the results before the game, so any slight possibility (of reaching the play-offs) was taken away.

“So that was difficult for the players and supporters who perhaps through the week have been edging towards there being a possibility.

“But before kick-off that was wiped away. So there was a bit of an anti-climax in the dressing room and probably in the stands.

“So that was difficult first and foremost because we were all still hoping.”
