Barnet Copthall finished first in the national level meet at Sheffield and excelled the Middlesex County Championships.

On the weekend of April 12/13, Barnet Copthall finished top of the standings at Pond's Forge in Sheffield, beating Rebecca Adlington's former club, NOVA Centurion, to win.

The event was organised by Derbyshire's elite swimming club Deventio eXcel and saw 20 teams attend.

Barnet head coach Rhys Gormley said of the weekend: "There were many national qualifying swims achieved and we are looking forward to the rest of the season which includes regional competitions, open meets in Sheffield, a training camp in Tenerife with the season culminating in National Championships in July."

Victory in Sheffield followed success in the 11 and under category at the Middlesex County Championship where Barnet won the Walron trophy.

The championship was held across several weekends in March and there were age group awards for Michael Klimaszewski in the nine year old boys category and Felix Cheng in the 13 year old boys category.

Second place awards went to James Rawes-Tadai (nine year old boys), Melissa Byrne (nine year old girls), Gaurika Singh (11 year old girls), Archie Price (11 year old boys), William Chapman (12 year old boy), Meghan Byrne (13 year old girls) and Joe Zlotnick (14 year old boys).

There were also third place awards for Declan Neilson (10 year old boys) and Bruna Rebelo (9 year old girls).
