Barnet just can’t end a season quietly. The Bees’ final day trip to Lincoln City meant little to either side but a 96th minute Jake Hyde goal meant the visitors grabbed a 3-3 draw.

Ahmed Abdulla converted an early penalty to put the Bees ahead but their lead was short-lived and Nat Brown equalised from a corner.

The match was level at the break but the Imps went in front less than a minute after the restart. Kris Bright headed home and the hosts added a third through Ben Tomlinson.

Barnet pulled a goal back via Iffy Allen. The young winger fired past Nick Townsend after good work from Luke Gambin.

And, in the 96th minute of stoppage time, the Bees grabbed an equaliser. Jake Hyde collected the ball and fired into the net to earn Barnet a share of the points.

With little at stake, head coach Martin Allen made eight changes to his Barnet side, with several fringe players given the chance to impress.

Nick Jupp, Mauro Vilhete, Freddie Warren, Abdulla, Gambin, Iffy Allen, Harry Crawford and Jamal Lowe all came into the Bees team.

Graham Stack, Elliot Johnson, Keanu Marsh-Brown, James Harper and Jon Nurse were not included in the squad while Mark Byrne, Hyde and Curtis Weston dropped to the bench.

Both sides created several chances throughout the opening 45 minutes.

Lincoln went close in the second minute. Tomlinson collected a cross, turned David Stephens and shot narrowly wide.

Barnet’s first attack led to the opening goal. Gambin skipped past two challenges before being brought down by Thierry Audel.

Referee Richard Wigglesworth awarded a penalty and Abdulla stepped up and coolly dispatched the spot kick.

The lead lasted less than two minutes. Lincoln won a corner, the ball was whipped into the six yard box by Sean Newton and Brown tapped home.

Valentin Gjokaj and Tom Miller came close with headers for their respective sides and Lowe was denied by a good stop from Nick Townsend.

As the half drew to a close, both teams struck the woodwork.

Warren lost possession in midfield and Lincoln counter-attacked. A neat interchange of passes gave Miller a chance to shot and his effort struck the foot of the post.

The Bees responded and Gambin, who impressed in the first half, cut in from the left flank and curled a 25-yard shot against the crossbar.

The game was level at the interval but, less than a minute after the restart, Lincoln went ahead.

Jon Nolan was given too much time to send in a cross and his delivery was met by Bright who headed past Jupp at the back post.

The hosts controlled possession in the second period and Bright clipped a shot over after another good Nolan pass found him in space.

Lincoln continued to threaten and they added a third goal nine minutes after the restart. Jake Sheridan advanced down the right-wing and passed the ball into the penalty area.

Both Stephens and Jupp were hesitant which allowed Tomlinson to nip in and poke his shot into the bottom corner.

Their two-goal advantage lasted just three minutes. Gambin again was the architect as he evaded three challenges, passed to Iffy Allen and the young winger slotted in for his first Bees goal.

Martin Allen decided to make a triple change. Byrne, Hyde and Luisma Villa replaced Crawford, Lowe and Abdulla.

Two of the substitutes linked to create Barnet’s next chance. Villa put Hyde through on goal but the Bees’ top scorer lashed wildly over from 18 yards.

Lincoln responded and struck the crossbar through Sheridan. Iffy Allen then headed a corner over from four yards out for the visitors.

The hosts did have the ball in the net with three minutes remaining. Jupp produced a brilliant stop to deny Koby Arthur and the rebound was turned in by Bright. However, the goal was ruled out for offside.

A pitch invasion from the home supporters followed. Martin Allen took his players to the dressing room and they didn’t until the pitch was cleared.

When play resumed, eight minutes were added. With two minutes of the campaign remaining, Barnet grabbed an equaliser.

The ball dropped to Hyde in the area. His first shot was blocked but he collected the rebound and his shot found the corner.

It was the final goal scored in the Skrill Premier this season and meant the points were shared.

Promotion was the aim for Barnet back in August. The Bees have failed in their bid but, given the club’s form since Martin Allen’s return, there are encouraging signs that the Bees could challenge next season.
