Wingate & Finchley saved their best until last but were still relegated from the Ryman Premier Division despite a 5-0 final day win over Billericay.

Despite their biggest win of the season, Wingate's goal difference of -28 means Daniel Nielsen's side will play in Division One North or South next season, with their fate to be decided on May 12.

Ahmet Rifat opened the scoring after 14 minutes, lofting the ball over the Billericay goalkeeper having beaten former teammate Ryan Scott to the ball.

Three minutes later Leon Fisher doubled the lead from close range.

At that stage a seven goal swing was needed to send Wingate down, but that was precisely what happened.

After the re-start Rifat added the third, converting a Josh Kennet cross.

Evans Kouassi had Billericay's best chance after a break, weaving down the left-hand side before firing straight at Wingate keeper Bobby Smith.

Scott Shulton added a fourth after the hour, firing low into the net from Kennet's cross.

The scoring was completed in the 82nd minute when Rifat completed his hat-trick after a shot deflected into his path.

Following relegation, manager Nielsen and director of football David Norman have both committed their 'mid-term' futures to the club.
