Saracens secured top spot in the Premiership on Saturday by beating Worcester 44-20 in their penultimate league fixture of the season.

Director rugby Mark McCall labelled the achievement a "wonderful effort" after watching the Men in Black break the record for the most points secured in a Premiership season with a game to go.

"To win 19 games out of 21 in a season, and to score 85 points is a great achievement,” McCall told Saracens' site.

“When we started we wanted to be a really consistent club and there’s evidence that we are getting there. It’s been a wonderful effort by everyone. You’ve got be proud about some things, so to have finished top of the tree again is a good thing. We’ve got more wins than last year, scored double the amount of tries probably, so it shows a real sign of progress.

Sarries were comfortably the better side as they crushed Worcester at Allianz Park, with a hat-trick of tries from Jackson Wray the headline in a comprehensive victory.

David Strettle opened the scoring by crossing the line after four minutes, with Chris Ashton running in two more tries for McCall's side.

Alex Goode missed just one conversion, adding two penalties to his personal points haul.
