Finchley RFC will host the inaugural Griffin Cup on Saturday.

Launched by the RFU and Middlesex County rugby, the Griffin Cup has been introduced to honour the career of Finchley rugby legend Deborah Griffin OBE.

Griffin is also the chairman for the RFU council for women and played a huge role in establishing the England national side and the Women’s World Cup.

The day will feature a tournament between eight sides: Worthing Ladies, Hammersmith & Fulham, East London Women, Harlequins Ladies, Kilburn Cosmos Ladies, Reading Abbey Nuns, Windsor Dames and Haringey Rhinos.

Registration opens at 10am and the first match gets underway at midday.

A number of celebrities and England rugby players are expected to attend the event, which is also free to the public.

The venue is situated ten minutes walk away from Finchley Central tube station and car parking is available.
