London Broncos agree professional contracts with young trio

London Broncos have given professional contracts to three youth team players.

Joe Keyes and Toby Everett – both 18 – have signed for three years, whilst Harvey Burnett, 18, has signed a one year deal.

Keyes has also come through the England youth structure after being picked up by the London side.

The stand-off, who played his junior rugby league at Medway Dragons and Brentwood Eels, has been a fan of the Broncos since the age of five.

“This club has been such a big part of my life for such a long time,” he told the club's website.

“It’s always been my aspiration to stick with it and get a run at the first team, because that’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was little.”

Forward Everett joined the Broncos as a 16-year-old and has been capped at England youth level and is revelling his current role.

He said: “I find the other Under-19s are looking up to me as I’m training with the first team, which is always great.”

Despite receiving just a one-year contract, Burnett is excited for his future at the capital club and believes he can improve his game.

The outside back explained: “It makes a massive difference to our game to train with the first team.”

He continued: “When I go back to the under 19s, the training gives me a massive improvement.”

After training regularly with the first team for a while, head coach JoeyGrima admits that the trio may be in this season’s first team matchday squad sooner rather than later.

“Harvey, Toby and Joe are three key players that will play first team next season or maybe even this season, so it was important for us [to sign the players] as a club moving forward,” said the Australian.
