Martin Allen aims to get an hour from some members of his squad when Barnet meet Stevenage in their second pre-season friendly at The Hive on Tuesday evening.

The games come thick and fast for the Bees, who returned to match action on Saturday by hosting League One side Peterborough United; Kgosi Ntlhe scoring the only goal of the game for the visitors.

Head coach Allen played a different side in each half against United but will be looking to increase the number of minutes he uses players for against League Two Stevenage.

Asked how long he would use certain players for following the 1-0 defeat by Peterborough, Allen said: "More to the hour. The key thing at the moment is injury prevention.

"You don’t want to get injuries, so we have to really look after our players; they’ve all been down for ice baths, making sure everybody’s well rested, so when you do play, you can go at full tilt.”

The Bees included six trialists against Peterborough and have since released forward Vinny Mukendi and central midfielder Archange Nkumu and Allen will have a full squad to pick from – the injured Iffy Allen aside.

Gavin Mahon, Will Antwi, Charlie MacDonald and Ramil Sheriff are all expected to play some part against the Borough, with Allen confirming a 'couple' of others could be involved against the Borough.

Tuesday’s game will be Stevenage’s third of pre-season, having beaten Arlesey Town 3-0 last Wednesday before drawing 2-2 with West Ham United at The Lamex on Saturday.

Former Wealdstone and Potters Bar winger Tom Pett scored in both games – his first appearances for the club since joining from the Stones this summer.

Graham Westley has since added two new faces, with former Stevenage striker Chris Beardsley returning from Preston North End and centre-back Charlie Lee signing from Gillingham.
