Times Series: Bradley leaves Barnet after two months Bradley leaves Barnet after two months

Summer signing Dan Bradley will be allowed to leave Barnet despite signing two months ago, after changing his mind about joining the Bees.

The former Alfreton Town midfielder only signed for the club on May 16 but has since changed his mind following a series of discussions with head coach Martin Allen.

A short Barnet FC statement to the Times Series read: "Dan has expressed his desire to live and play further north, and we are trying to find a solution to accommodate that."

Speaking after Tuesday's win over Stevenage, Allen said: "Dan was an early signing in the summer but he had a chat with a me a few times over the phone in the summer, saying that he didn't really want to come down here and that he thought he'd made the wrong decision.

"We’ve been having a few ongoing chats that we couldn’t really disclose to the public. I’m sure that everyone will understand that legally we had to do things properly," added Allen.

“It is disappointing because he is a good player but it is probably best for us and best for him that we let him go. The finalities of that are just about to be done.

"It’s disappointing but all human beings have a choice about what they want to do and we have to respect his choice, it is part of life. He’s made that choice and I respect it, so there are no hard feelings.”

Pressed on why exactly the 25-year-old would not be remaining with the club, Allen said: "I spoke to him for long periods of time but those conversations will always stay private between me and Dan, there's nothing for me to disclose apart from the bottom line that he doesn't want to come down here."

The England C international agreed to join the Bees from Alfreton Town in May but had not been involved in either of Barnet's two pre-season friendly matches to date.

Allen did confirm he had a right-sided midfielder lined up to join the Bees on trial but was unsure as to whether the player in question would link up in time to feature against Luton Town on Sunday.
