Hendon’s goalless draw against Chesham United on Monday night means the two sides will share the Dave Stanley Memorial Shield.

Richard Worrell should have scored for hosts Hendon, who came the closest to a second-half winner with a chance that fell to Michael Murray; the ball ending up the wrong side of the post.

The Dave Stanley Memorial Shield was set up by Chesham to honour the Generals’ former secretary, who died in June 2010. Stanley began as secretary at Hendon, and then worked for Chesham, as well as spending time in the role at Hemel Hempstead Town, Merthyr Tydfil, Berkhamsted Town and Barnet.

Hendon were beaten on Tuesday evening, the Ryman Premier League side continuing a hectic pre-season schedule with a 2-1 defeat at Northwood, with Murray scoring Hendon’s consolation goal.

The Greens suffered another defeat at one of their bogey grounds last Saturday, losing 2-0 to Uxbridge, although the hosts should have been comfortable winners on the day.

Gary McCann’s side were 5-0 winners over Leverstock Green last Thursday, though. Lee O’Leary (2), Kevin Maclaren, Kezie Ibe and Leon Smith shared the goals.

Wingate and Finchley had a successful visit to Potters Bar Town on Tuesday night, winning 3-1.

A brace from David Knight and one from Rob Laney secured the win for Danny Nielsen’s men, who had drawn 1-1 against Conference South new-boys Wealdstone on Saturday.

Adam Bolle scored the opener for Wingate four minutes after replacing the injured Laney. Gordon Bartlett’s Stones levelled when skipper Wes Parker bundled home a corner after the break.

Wingate & Finchley have announced that their first team main sponsor for the 2014/15 season will be Integrated Global Logistics Limited. IGL were the winners of the club’s sponsorship prize draw, and their logo will grace the club’s kit.
