Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers’ Jade Lally has reached the final of this evening’s women’s discus at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Lally, 27, reached this evening’s final at Hampden Park by finishing fifth in the qualifying pool with a distance of 57.13m.
Tooting-born Lally opened with a throw of 54.95m and gradually improved, managing 55.03m with her second throw and 57.13m at the final attempt.
Australian Dani Samuels won the qualifying pool, achieving a distance of 64.53m – some six metres ahead of nearest competitor, India’s Seema Punia, in second place.
Tonight’s final is scheduled to begin at 6.15pm.
Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers’ team-mate, Kyle Robilliard, came sixth in Thursday’s 100m hurdles qualifying, missing out on a place in the final.
A time of 21.49 in heat three saw the 26-year-old from Guernsey finish in last place.
