After a season of two halves last time around, Lincoln City will be looking to build on an encouraging start to the new Conference season and better last season’s 14th place finish.

The Imps lost just four times in the league after the New Year last season, opposed to 11 league defeats in the first half of the season, a run of form which steered them away from the threat of relegation and towards the safety of mid-table.

Gary Simpson’s side claimed their first victory of the 2014/15 season on Tuesday evening, winning 2-1 at newly-promoted Altrincham with goals from Jordan Burrow – signed from Stevenage this summer – and Conner Robinson.

Burrow is one of a number of additions this summer, switching from League 2 Stevenage, for whom he scored twice in nine league starts last term.

The 21-year-old frontman should be joined up front by Ben Tomlinson, who scored 18 league goals in 39 league starts last term, and summer signing Marcus Marshall, who has joined on loan from Morecambe.

At the other end of the field, French defender Tony Diagne has moved from League 2 Morecambe and brings plenty of Football League experience to Sincil Bank, despite being just 23.

Alongside Diagne is the considerably more experienced Nat Brown, who returned to Lincoln in 2013 from Macclesfield Town.

The 33-year-old stalwart lists Huddersfield Town and Wrexham among his former employers and spent three years with the Imps previously between 2005 and 2008.

Behind the backline is Nick Townsend, who is in his second loan spell at Sincil Bank, after impressing on loan from Birmingham City last term.

The 19-year-old gloveman kept seven clean sheets in 14 outings for City last season, enough to tempt manager Simpson into re-signing him ahead of this season.

In midfield, Alan Power has been with the club for three years since joining from the now-defunct Rushden and Diamonds, clocking up more than 100 appearances in the engine room.

Summer signing Hamza Bencherif has played on both sides of the River Trent, starting his career at Forest before moving to County and most recently, Algerian side JS Kabylie.

Capable of playing at centre half or in midfield, the Algerian has been utilized in the Imps midfield thus far.

Former Southport schemer Karl Ledsham is another new face at Sincil Bank, the 26-year-old joining from the Sandgrounders at the end of his contract.

Four years with Southport saw Ledsham notch 24 goals from midfield in 140 league appearances for the Merseyside outfit.

Imps boss Simpson is without defender Tom Miller, who has been injured since pre-season, and utility man Todd Jordan, meaning he is likely to name the same XI which won at Altrincham on Tuesday.
