Gary McCann’s Hendon moved into the Ryman Premier League play-off zone with a 1-0 victory away at Canvey Island on Tuesday night.

Striker Kezie Ibe opened the scoring for the Greens against his former side 18 minutes into the contest, following good work from right-back Chris Seeby.

Three minutes into the second half Ibe was brought down in the penalty area by Victor Osobu, who was controversially dismissed for the challenge.

The referee deemed Osobu to deny Ibe a clear goal-scoring opportunity regardless of the covering defender just yards away.

Ibe took the spot kick himself but failed to convert as Canvey keeper Danzelle St. Louis-Hamilton dived down to his left with a fine save.

The Greens were far less impressive on Saturday as they were comfortably beaten 3-0 at home to Enfield Town.

Enfield were dominant in the first half, controlling possession and forcing Hendon stopper George Legg into making several good saves.

Moments after half-time, Corey Whitley picked the ball up on the left and danced through four green shirts to put Enfield one up.

In the 71st minute Legg made a fantastic double-save but the ball fell to Enfield striker Nathan Livings who struck home to double the lead.

Whitley sealed the win, running onto a ball over the top and rounding keeper Legg to finish into an empty net.

Wingate & Finchley were unable to follow up Saturday’s victory over Hornchurch with another three points as they lost away to Witham Town 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Danny Emmanuel’s goal early into the second half won it for Witham which saw Wingate remain third in the Ryan Premier League.

The Blues continued their impressive start to the season on Saturday with a 1-0 home win over AFC Hornchurch.

Wingate took the lead in the 18th minute when Tommy Tejan-Sie played the ball to Karl Oliyidi, who rode a foul and lobbed the stranded Hornchurch keeper.

Edgware Town continued their disappointing start to the season with a 3-0 defeat to Langford on Saturday.

Despite annihilating Broxbourne Borough 6-1 in the previous game, Edgware lost their second game of the season and never looked like troubling their opponents.

Edgware manager Dan Manzi told the club’s website: “Although we weren’t clinical in attack we fed their confidence by losing shape, it doesn’t help when we gift them a couple of goals.”
