Hendon are third in the Ryman Premier Division table after defeating Peacehaven & Telscombe 3-2 on Monday evening and Greens boss Gary McCann was delighted with his side’s second-half display.

Hendon made the perfect start to the contest and went in front in the ninth minute when Kezie Ibe’s strike beat Antony di Bernardo and ended in the bottom corner.

However, Peacehaven hit back and struck twice in quick succession through Mark Knee and Lloyd Cotton to go into the interval in front.

The Greens were much improved in the second period and they levelled through Chris Seeby, whose excellent strike from the edge of the area beat di Bernardo.

Hendon battled throughout the half and managed to go in front through Dave Diedhiou with five minutes remaining. The ball broke into the path of the midfielder and he slotted home to seal victory.

A pleased McCann said: “I was delighted with the way that we reacted to the first half. We really dug in and produced some excellent passages of play in the second half. The two goals we scored were both superb, especially Seeby’s.”

The Greens travelled to Kingstonian on Saturday and let a first-half lead slip before drawing 2-2.

Leon Smith put Hendon in front just before the interval and Samuel Murphy converted a 56th-minute penalty to put the visitors in control.

But two goals from Andre McCollin ensured Kingstonian claimed a share of the points.
