Barnet captain Charlie MacDonald underwent a scan on his knee this afternoon, whilst Iffy Allen will return to the matchday squad for Saturday's trip to AFC Telford United.

Bees head coach Martin Allen also revealed Keanu Marsh-Brown will not be involved once again, as the winger has "things on the table" following the opening of the loan window.

MacDonald has been an ever-present for Barnet this season, scoring five goals in eight Conference starts.

However, the 33-year-old forward was withdrawn during the first-half of Wednesday night's 3-0 win at Dover Athletic and today had a scan on the knee he injured at The Crabble.

Speaking to the Bees' website, Allen said: “Charlie MacDonald is having a scan at lunchtime today and is seeing a consultant on Friday afternoon to let us know what the situation is with his knee. I’m delighted that our physio Jayde (Cook) has acted very promptly to get him in and seen to.

“Obviously it is a concern about Charlie but the player that took his place the other night scored two goals so it is not too much of a problem. We have got some good players gagging to get into the team so they will all now get a chance."

Young forward Allen, who suffered a leg break in pre-season, has returned to full training and is included in the travelling party for Saturday's game.

Allen continued: “With regards to Mauro Vilhete and Jack Saville, neither of them will be fit this weekend and Keanu Marsh-Brown has things on the table and in the offing so at the moment I don’t feel that it’s right to involve him until certain situations are sorted out off the field.”

Winger Marsh-Brown last featured for Barnet during the 4-0 win over Dartford on August 25 and has not been included in the matchday 16 for wins over Southport, Alfreton Town or Dover.

The Times Series revealed earlier in the week there had been bids from Blackpool, Luton Town and interest from Conference rivals Forest Green Rovers for the 22-year-old winger.

Looking ahead to Saturday's visit to The New Bucks Head, Allen highlighted the importance of maintaining a winning run which extended to five matches in Kent on Wednesday.

“We obviously want to keep this run of form going. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to work out that it is important just to keep the momentum going and not get too carried away," stated Allen.

Saturday’s hosts, Telford, sit second-bottom of the Conference after winning just two points from their opening three matches.

Manager Liam Watson is without Godfrey Poku (suspension), Sean Cooke (suspension) and Mike Grogan. Top-scorer Mike Phenix is however available for selection once more.
