Barnet player-coach Graham Stack says the Bees are not currently defending crosses into their box well enough but believes the 1-1 draw with Braintree Town was a good result.

Conference leaders Barnet took the lead against the Iron through John Akinde’s 12th minute header.

However, they were pegged back before the interval as Jordan Cox nodded home from close range from a Ryan Peters cross.

“Defensively we'll be disappointed with goal,” Stack said. “We've given the ball away needlessly which has allowed them the chance to put balls into our box.

“It is not an Achilles heel but is something we need to have a look at and need to address.

“Balls are coming into our box and we are not defending them well enough at the minute.”

He continued: “It was a hard game and it's another point. But are we happy with a point away from home?

“It is seven points from nine, that's not a bad run and we are keeping the momentum going.

“We could have got a second goal tonight, John has had a good chance that has just gone wide of the post in the first half.

“On reflection of the game you would be happy with a point though, they are not a bad side at all.

“They were a much improved side from last season, where they finished just outside of the play-offs. “But the squad they have here is very good.”

After 13 league games the Bees lead the Conference table by two points from Halifax Town.

“It is another game ticked off and another game unbeaten,” Stack. “We have some tough matches coming up, there are no easy games in this league though.

“We are still two points clear and there will be a lot of swings throughout the season.

“We will win games that we don't deserve to and we will lose games where we feel we were worthy winners, that is the way this league is.

“We are pleased to still be unbeaten away from home and that is something we've got to try and keep going as long as possible.”
