It is now four goals in his last three games for Bees striker John Akinde after his header in the 1-1 draw with Braintree Town on Tuesday night – it is little wonder the striker is described as a defender’s nightmare.
The powerful 25-year-old joined Barnet in the summer from Alfreton Town and has quickly cemented himself as the focal point of the Bees attack.
He provides a physical presence and has netted seven times in 13 matches since arriving at The Hive. Player-coach Graham Stack admits Akinde is key to Barnet’s promotion hopes.
“John gives us a physical presence up front which is something we lacked before as a side,” Stack said. “We need to keep him fit. He an absolute powerhouse and is a defender’s nightmare. He is strong, quick, powerful and knows where the goal is as we have seen this season.
“He is scoring goals at will at the moment and I am delighted for him because he works very hard in games.”
