Barnet player-coach Jon Nurse says the Bees do not accept defeat and will look to bounce back from their first away defeat of the season when they host Kidderminster Harriers at The Hive on Saturday.

The Bees lost their unbeaten away record on Tuesday night when they lost 2-1 at unbeaten-at-home Macclesfield Town.

Martin Allen’s side have won their last two at home by an aggregate score of 6-0, but prior to Tuesday’s loss in Cheshire, had suffered their only two losses of the season so far at home.

Speaking to the club's website, Nurse said: “We don’t accept defeat. We come back in on the training pitch, we work even harder and we put it right in the next game.

“That is the key to success. You are going to lose along the way but it is how you bounce back from those defeats. At the moment we have bounced back very well and I believe that that will continue to happen because of the character that we have in the dressing room."

After shuffling his pack against the Silkmen in midweek, Allen has a virtually fully-fit squad to pick from, with only captain Charlie MacDonald and wide-man Keanu Marsh-Brown sidelined.

Defender Sam Muggleton has been recovering from a blow to the ankle in Leicester for the last week and will be assessed ahead of any potential return to action.

With the likes of MacDonald, Marsh-Brown, Luisma Villa, Lee Cook and Mauro Vilhete missing out in recent weeks due to injury, Nurse has made a string of appearances.

And the former Dagenham and Redbridge was quick to highlight the importance of strength in depth over the course of a season.

He explained: “When you see those boys returning to the bench you start to see how good a squad we do have and how important that will be throughout the season so it is very good news for us to have those players back.

“Eleven players are not going to win us the league; it will very much be a squad effort so it is important that everybody gets minutes on the pitch.”

Harriers boss Gary Whild will be able to call upon player-coach Josh Gowling once more after the centre-half served a one-match ban against Welling United on Wednesday.

Goals from defensive duo Jared Hodgkiss and top-scorer Cheyenne Dunkley sealed a 2-1 win at Aggborough – Kiddy’s first in three Conference fixtures. With the game broadcast live on BT Sport, Barnet head coach Allen was in the studio as a pundit.

Harriers’ Dunkley, who has scored four times in 14 starts this term, is the club’s top-scorer, despite a depth of striking talent available to boss Whild.

Barnet and Kidderminster have only met four times previously, with both sides claiming 1-0 home wins after 12 years apart.
