Hendon boss Gary McCann felt his side could have beaten landlords Harrow Borough on New Year’s Day, but was satisfied with a point in the 2-2 draw at Earlsmead.

Harrow took the lead six minutes before the break when Marc Charles-Smith converted a penalty after being brought down by Elliott Brathwaite.

It took just a minute for Hendon to draw level after the break, Brathwaite atoning for his earlier mistake with a header.

Harold Odametey restored Harrow’s lead before Leon Smith snatched an 83rd-minute equaliser for the Greens.

Speaking to the club’s website, McCann said: “I thought we were good value for the point. If we had gone ahead, I think we would have won the game.

“I felt that we were always chasing the game, even when we were level. It was a very difficult surface and we tried to set the pace.

“I think Harrow are happier with the draw than we are. Credit to them for the way that they set themselves up and attacked us on the break. But the resilience of my team in coming back twice was very pleasing.

“It has been a very tough run of games in the past few weeks, with some very long trips. If we can get a win on Saturday, I will be delighted with seven points from the three games in the week after Christmas.”

Hendon’s clash with East Thurrock was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and will now be played on Monday, February 9 (7.45pm kick off).

The Greens travel to Enfield Town on Saturday, before hosting Metropolitan Police on Monday (7.45pm kick off).
