Barnet Copthall Swimming Club are more than 100 points clear of their nearest rivals in the Middlesex County Swimming Championships after the latest round of the competition.
The club have 599 points to second-placed Hillingdon’s 452, whilst Ealing (315), Teddington (299) and Chelsea and Westminster (290) trail in their wake.
Particularly impressive was a gold, silver and bronze clean sweep for Barnet Copthall swimmers in the 11-year-old girls’ 200m backstroke.
There were also special awards for several of the club’s elite swimmers, including Joe Zlotnick, Meghan Byrne, Yaron Gerber, Karis Fuller and Mia Hawkes for achieving the fastest county times of the year in their events.
The third and final weekend of the Middlesex County Championships is on February 14 and 15 in Enfield, where team relays and sprints will be held.
Coach Rhys Gormley said: “It’s been a great early season competition for us. It bodes well for the British trials and British Nationals coming up in July.”
