London Bees' Anneka Nuttall has joined Watford Ladies, admitting she has wanted to become a Hornet for some time.

The striker, who scored twice against John Salomon's side in their 5-4 win over the Bees last season, becomes the third player to move between the clubs this year, following Cherie Rowlands and Dawn Mallett.

Speaking to the club's website, Nuttall said: "I’ve wanted to join Watford for quite a while now, even when we played against them, it was clear that they were the better team.

"I’m looking forward to being involved. It’s a very good structured team, an attacking side you can see that but one that can also defend.

"I played against Watford twice last season and they beat us both times when I played for London Bees, so it’s exciting to be here and hopefully be on the winning team for once."

The 23-year-old added: "I feel that I can bring lots of energy to the pitch. There will be plenty of enthusiasm, I just love running at people."

And Nuttall, who could make her debut for the Hornets against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup on Sunday, is looking forward to the big kick-off.

She said: “It’ll be a tough game against Brighton, they’ve got a good setup.

“Hopefully we’ll [new signings] fit in nicely and the team will be able finish higher in the league this time.

“It’ll be nice to see us in the top half, pre-season is going very well and I think we’re in for a good season.”
